Automatic Leak Testing System For Helium Gas Filled Components

Balzers Hochvakuum, Germany, has developed a leak test system which is an automatic testing unit for components filled with helium or a helium gas mixture. Test for sealing of up to 10-9 mbar I/s is possible with this unit. A customer-specific testing chamber of 20 to 50 I capacity is connected to the leak test system via a vacuum flange. The design of the test chamber and the degree of automation on loading and unloading or sorting of sealing into sealed or unsealed samples can be matched with particular requirements. The closing of the chamber door starts the automatic testing. After seal testing the chamber is flooded and is made free for unloading or reloading. Digital inputs and outputs are sufficient in simple cases to integrate the system with a production line. The communication with a lead computer via an RS 232C interface is possible.
