Tri-Level Thermocouples

Tempsens Instruments (I) Pvt Ltd offers Tri Level Thermocouples specially designed for use in fore hearths of furnaces. These thermocouples are available in R-, S- and B-type sensors having a measuring range of 100º to 1600ºC. The temperature at different levels of molten glass varies. In the tri-level thermocouple, three thermocouple sensors mounted in a single assembly protected with platinum thimble, and they are used to read the through out temperature profile of the molten glass, (bottom layer, middle layer and upper layer). This design helps to achieve thermal homogeneity of the glass existing from the fore-hearth for forming, as the homogeneity will help to get the proper distribution of gob in moulds. High alumina ceramic tubes are used for the housing of the thermocouple; they have 99.7% alumina content which increases the overall life of the thermocouples. As platinum is un-wetted to glass, it is used to as a thimble at the bottom of the thermocouple to protect and prevent direct contact of the ceramic hosing from molten glass.
