Made of carefully selected raw material, components, manufacturing and testing methods, these probes enable metallurgists to analyse the chemistry of irons and steel with high accuracy and speed of analysis. Advantages: Carbotip helps to determine on the shop floor itself the carbon in steel barely in 10 seconds and irons in 50-70 seconds. As against conventional laboratory method which consumes as much as 20-25 minutes to report C% and 30-40 minutes to report Si %. The shop floor metallurgist does not have to wait for laboratory analysis. He thus gains substantial lead-time to carry out re or de-carburisation of the bath without loss of time. Saves fuel: solution of carbon in steel being a slow process, the lead time gained by instant reading saves fuel costs. Faster furnace turned-round: the furnace availability is increases with the time thus saved in carbon evaluation. Economy in consumables:he decarburising or recarburising agents are consumed to the barest minimum. Available versions: Type S for steels using platinum/platinum rhodium 10% or 13% thermocouple; Type C for cast iron using chromel-alumel thermocouple; and Type CM for cast irons that have been treated with magnesium.
