Octane/Cetane Analyser

Core Lab Refinery Systems, USA, introduces its new portable Octane/Cetane Analyser. Model OA 228 utilises Near-Infrared (NIR) technology, allows routine analysis of gasolene octane numbers and diesel cetane numbers, while providing CFR knock engine accuracy with ease of use, speed and portability. The OA 228 measures all grades of unleaded and leaded gasolene and displays results in less than 17 seconds. It directly measures research, motor or pump octane number, cetane number and cetane index. Standard features are: Lab accurate; Results in less than 17 seconds; Includes RS232 output; Built-in printer and LCD display; Needs only 8-ounce fuel sample; Uses infrared emitting diodes (IREDS) with virtually unlimited life (no lightbulb burnouts); Test sample not damaged; Results traceable to CFR knock engine or lab results; and Extended memory capacity (can store up to 25 samples for later downloading via RS232). The OA 228 is small, lightweight and. simple to use. It operates on AA batteries or AC. Before each reading, the OA 228 standardises itself to ensure accuracy. An easy loading sample holder makes using the OA 228 quick and easy. The octane/cetane number is displayed and can -be printed and time stamped with the built-in printer. The OA 228 comes with an extended memory that allows storing of up to 25 octane numbers. All data can be downloaded via the RS232 port to an external computer. The OA 228 is ideal for monitoring octane/cetane numbers at the blending sites, at the installation sites, for temperature corrections in the catalytic reformer in SOR to EOR conversions, routine inspection/checking of the quality of fuels at the retail outlets, and fuel marketing departments.
