Automotive Multimeter

Gassen Metrawatt offers automotive multimeter for use in the automobile industry, repair shops, schools and training centres. A precision folding multimeter, the Metraport 40S USB Automotive is an easy to use tool for automotive electricians (mechatronics technicians), by means of which roughly 70% of all measurements required for automotive service and repairs can be performed. As a result, complex and expensive diagnosis testers only need to be used infrequently. The Metraport 40S USB can also be connected to diagnosis testers via the USB port, which is provided as standard equipment. Already being successfully used the world over by a large German automobile manufacturer, the automotive multimeter helps ascertain current consumption with a current clamp, or by means of direct measurement (in order to measure leakage current when the vehicle is not running (< 20 mA), or at glow plugs and fuel pumps (> 10 A), etc). The multimeter also helps to ascertain battery voltage measurement, temperature measurement for oil, coolant water and air conditioning, diode test with 1 mA constant current (power diodes between the alternator and the charging electronics), speed in RPM and frequency measurement at the spark plug cables in order to test speedometer, tachometer and ignition electronics, and low voltage measurement (µV function) in order to ascertain voltage drop at fuses, or to detect defective power consumers (controllers for example) which should be shut down (due to leakage current). The multimeter comes with an illuminated display with a character height of 20 mm, and of extremely high contrast even at low temperatures. While the folding mechanism assures ideal reading angle and protection when closed, the multimeter facilitates auto-ranging current measurement from smallest to largest current range via a single socket and a resetable auto-fuse. Connection of current clamp sensors is at a separate socket, and the current value is directly calculated and displayed using the adjustable transformation ratio. An integrated auto-fuse assures automatic shutdown in the event of an error. As a result, no consequential costs are incurred. The blown fuse is immediately detected and "FUSE" appears at the display.
