Pendulum Impact Testing Machine

Instron Wolpert of Germany offers a new state-of-the-art technology pendulum impact testing machine, Model PW 75. This is designed to determine the impact properties of high strength materials such as metals and high strength composites. Its design meets the requirements of EN 10045, ASTM E23 and other international standards. The machine can be used for quality assurance in production, research laboratories and universities. It works in energy range of 300, 450, 600 and 750 joules, achieved by adding weight to the pendulum hammer. It is suited to Charpy, Izod and Brugger test methods, and tensile impact tests. Main features: solid two-pillar frame; choice of maximum impact energy from 300 J to 750 J by the simple addition of weights; variable impact velocity from 0 to 5.5 m/s achieved by adjusting the launch height of the lifting arm; automatic hammer lift; fully enclosed safety screen and double interlocked hammer release system; anvil blocks are easily changed to accommodate different specimen sizes; and, interchangeable striking edges. Measuring techniques: three methods of data acquisition are available: i) Analogue display with idle pointer; ii) Digital display; and iii) Instrumented system using a PC with dedicated software, recording data from force, displacement and magnetic transducers. The data is automatically acquired and may be manipulated by the operator. It can be plotted as: force vs time, force vs displacement, impact energy vs displacement, displacement vs time, and velocity vs time, by using the company's dedicated impact data analysis software. Special system configurations can also be supplied for use in hot cells.
