R&D Equipments offers universal testing machines (extensometers) 3000 Series, to accurately determine and evaluate material properties, with the capability to measure values such as load, strain and elongation, and to control their rate of change with accuracy. These extensometers are also fully supported by a complete line of accessories and options to enhance their capability, flexibility and usefulness. They can be used with a variety of materials including metals, wood, composites, rigid plastics, polymers, rubber, etc, and other materials of both extremely low and high strength at both high and low strain levels. The extensometers have a cross-flexure design. This design assures true centre-point bending and provides the following important test features: low activation force, typically under 60 g and as low as 30 g; small lightweight design - most are under 70 g mass; low hysteresis - typically under 0.1%; exceptional linearity, especially through zero travel; and, extended travel capability up to 1 inch (25 mm). Extended travel allows measurement of post-yield behaviour up to specimen fracture. The cross-flexure design means there are no levers, hinges or pivot points to be damaged. Most gauges are designed with a mechanical overtravel limit located near the knife edges to reduce forces that may result in damage to the extensometer at high accelerations produced by specimen fracture. Gauges have hardened, replaceable knife edges in a variety of configurations for user ease in attachment to a variety of specimen geometries and materials. Accessory kits provide expanded utility. The extensometers and gauges come ready to use, packed in a rugged storage case which contains the instrument, attached cable with connector, spare parts, springs, attachment devices and tools that maybe required.
