Bolt-On Level Measurement System

The Microcell sensor, the heart of bolt-on level sensing, is a highly sensitive and thermally stable semiconductor strain sensor. When bolted directly onto a vessel's support structure, the sensor measures changes in compression of the support member and provides a proportional electrical output directly related to the material's weight. The electrical signal is processed in a signal processor for indication/retransmission and control purposes. The system is ideal for monitoring inventories of nearly any type of bulk material. Measurement is based on the weight of the material, not its surface level. Characteristics of bulk solids or liquids such as changing angles of repose, changing densities, side build up or foam do not fool the system. It gives a true indication of bulk inventory. Depending on the application, the sensors can be installed on nearly any type of storage vessel. They are easily installed using common tools and do not require emptying the vessel or shutting down plant operations. The systems are application oriented and find extensive use in all core industries like cement, steel, fertilisers, petrochemicals, chemicals, and other allied industries like foundries, food industry, asbestos, etc. Microcell sensors can also be used as burden depth indicators, chute plug indicators, material presence detectors in material handling areas, etc. Capacity can vary from a few hundred kg to a few thousand tonnes.
