Digital Co 2 Laser Processing Cell


The laser machine's twin baliscrew drive system will position at 3,300 ipm on a diagonal and 2,400 ipm in a straight line. The accuracy of the drive system allows processing a 1"round hole at 320 ipm to an accuracy of 0.0004". Over 140 holes per minute (0.200"diameter and 0.625"centres) can be made to an accuracy of 0.0015". The cell was designed to cut at "thermal maximum"cutting speeds. Also standard on the cell is capacitance sensing, where focus control is automatic and does not touch the material. The laser cell uses the Mitsubishi 3020D, 2,000-watt digital resonator. Standard features include Mitsubishi rectangular pulsing. Gas consumption is extremely low, only 2 litres per hour, resulting in a gas cost of less than 4 cents per hour. Digital power control enables very fast on-and-off cycles for hole-intensive sheet metal parts and fast pie rcing with no blowouts on thick material. Output control to within 1 per cent fluctuation is maintained by the Mitsubishi high speed power sensor. The sensor allows for 45-second warm-up cycles and enables cutting of reflective materials.
