Overload monitoring systems

Mascot Systems is an authorised channel partner for Tecsis GmbH, Germany. The new Tecsis Overload Monitoring System, ECPS, is especially designed for cranes and guarantees a safe and reliable operation. The system monitors crucial parameters and prevents overload situations. It consists of a central electronic unit and the respective transducers, which are integrated at different positions on the crane. The new load pins, Tecsis type F5308, are typically integrated directly into existing machines, replacing for example an existing bolt in fork bearings. The force transducers are equipped with Tecsis thin-film sensors, which ensure excellent creep properties, high precision and reliability; and also guarantee high accuracy and long-term stability of the signal. The load pins are available in customised versions with nominal loads ranging from 10 kN up to 3,000 kN. The combined error is less than 1% of full scale. Standard analog outputs (4...20 mA, 0...10 V) are available as well as an integrated CANopen interface. According to the requirements of these applications, the load pins fulfil protection class IP67 – a version with IP69k is available as well. Sensitive parts like connectors and electronics are protected against mechanical damage. Therefore the load pins can be used in very rough environments like in harbour cranes. An ATEX version, which allows the use in explosive hazardous environments, is also available. Typical applications include in cranes and construction machinery, preventing the overloading of the overhead and gantry cranes, identifying when a cable is slack and monitoring balance by means of signal summation.
