Weight Interface Unit

Microedge Electronics offers a Weight Interface Unit. This microcontroller-based unit is available in two models: Basic and Basic Plus. The Basic model has two LED indications, a buzzer and a push button. The weight interface unit is connected to a weigh scale indicator for reading the weight data. A maximum of 12, such weight interface units, can be connected to a personal computer through a communication converter. Software developed in visual basic is run in the computer to collect weighing information from the weight interface units. Whenever material is weighed, the operator has to register the weight by pressing the push button. The weight interface unit collects the weight data and transmits it to the PC. A beep sound is generated, which indicates that the data has reached the P.C. The Basic model is useful for recording the date, time, weight and scale location for every weighment. Reports are provided based on the data. The Basic Plus model has a LED display for displaying the set point for every weighment. A four key keypad is provided for entering the set point. The set points can be programmed in a number of ways. Depending on the set point, visual indication is provided for every weighment. An orange LED glows till the weight is less than the set weight; the green LED glows if the weight is equal to the set weight and the red LED glows if the weight is more than the required weight. The weight is registered and stored in the PC only when the weight is equal to the required weight. This ensures that the right quantity of the material is weighed and the quantity weighed is recorded in the PC along with date and time. A numeric keypad can be provided as an option for this unit.
