Machine Tool Calibration Equipment

Oriental Machine Tools offers laser based precision calibration equipment for machine tools, from Optodyne, U.S.A. This is the first time such an equipment is introduced in the Indian market. The benefits of using this equipment are given below: the set up time is much faster as there are only two components to align, the laser head and the retroreflector, compared to requirement of interferometer and tripod of other system; ability to eliminate errors due to abbe effect by measuring the X-axis while monitoring Y-axis; system is mounted on the machine itself thus eliminating external vibrations; machine temperature variations are automatically compensated for by the system's environmental sensors and software; the system gives a warning signal on the display after the beam is broken; dual channel processor which enables the system to provide simultaneous measurement of linear and angular displacement; and, new Windows 95 compatible software provides automatic data collection for linear, angular and rotary table calibration without a signal from the controller (ie, on the fly). The system is ideal for small to intermediate to large machines with a linear range of 60 feet and an angular measurement range of 30 feet. The equipment calibrates rotary tables and stages by using: a) A dual-beam laser head assembly; b) Setup and alignment is easy because angular measurement is not affected by runout, wobble, parallelism or co-axial with the rotary table, ie, true angular measurement; c) High accuracy and repeatability; d) Elimination of the expensive, calibrated rotary table; and, e) Under normal set-up conditions, accuracy will be less than 2 aresec.
