PVC Wire & Cable Coating Plants

Malik Engineers, manufacture MERWC Series PVC Wire & Cable Coating Plants. The full machine comprises one single screw extruder fitted with screw/barrel set, heaters, motor, crosshead & die-unit, etc., one pay-off stand for conductor feed into extruder, one water cooling tank, Capstan type/Caterpiller type take-off unit, spool winder with torque motor drive and control panel for complete machine. In operation, the bare conductor is fed into extruder (mounted at 90 degrees to the axis of complete line). The Extruder continously coats the conductor with PVC insulation. The coated wire/cable passes through the cooling tank where it is cooled and is led through the Capstan/Caterpiller take-off and finally to the spool winder. Capstan take-off is provided in sizes upto 50mm extruder size and over this, Caterpiller type take-off is provided. Both types of take-off are provided with DC motor drive with thyristor controller for stepless speed variation. The spool winder is provided with torque motor drive for winding the wire/cable at constant tension throughout build-up. The temperature control panel is provided with electronic solid-state temperature controllers and suitable sensors for precise control of temperature of PVC melt. Additionally, air blowers are mounted below the barrel to force cool the same, in event the temperature overshoots the limits. The blowers are arranged for automatic operation.
The machine is currently manufactured in screw sizes of 40, 45, 50, 65, 75mm with corresponding capacities of 8mm, 13mm, 15mm, 30, 50mm amd 65mm being the maximum diameter of PVC .
