Kanubhai Electricals have introduced a new model of their DC Welding power source, named Trident, conforming to IS:4559. Trident DC welding rectifiers come in the range of 250 A, 400 A and 600 A, either transductor or thyristor controlled, or fully thyristorised. These machines are compact (450 mm wide), elegant and sturdy with tropicalised electronics for Indian climate. Other features are: Class H insulation for transformer and fan motor; 150% overcurrent carrying capacity of the rectifier bridges; Fault diagnostics LEDs; High power factor and low no-load current for power savings; and, noise level within limits of 60db as per rules. Low current range goes to 5 A, depending on the model. This feature is especially helpful for TIG welding of thin sheets, along with current pulsing ( DC pulser 626 is required for pulsing). Different models have OCV of upto 95 V which allows arc striking without difficulty, particularly helpful for low hydrogen electrodes. Trident-2509 has been designed keeping the small welding outfits in mind, who need to use a DC machine for quality weld but either are forced to buy 400 A machine or cannot afford to buy a 400 A DC machine. It can weld most common metals with available electrodes, including titanium. For gouging operation, Trident-6009 can be selected along with other common features.
