Cold Welding Technology

In the present scenario where power supply is short, skilled engineers are rare, transportation cost is increasing gradually, and machine tool manufacturers are looking for new technology as per international standards, which can overcome these problems without compromising quality requirement. These problems are not new but were predicted long back by western and European manufacturers, and they have come out with simple solutions using different materials and methods. Cold welding technology enables rectification of micro porosities and blow holes, and manufacturing of complicated components in place, by making use of different materials. These materials have made an impact in production time saving and have been accepted for low cost production as side costs have been reduced. These special materials are: low friction coating material for dynamic application, viz., machine slides, quills, bushings, guides, etc., using replica technique – no scraping or machining required; liquid shims with flexural strengt
