Six-Station Dial Rotary Transfer Machine

The Multifactor dial rotary transfer machine features a base with six stations and a rotary table that has translation of 30 and 60 degrees. This machine can index the six workpiece holding fixtures through CNC stepper motors. Fixture indexing can be done as the part is machined, or while the table is indexing from one station to the other. This allows for greater flexibility when machining complex parts, says the builder. The workpiece fixtures are of the mechanical type. All stations are computer controlled. The first station is for manual loading and unloading and the workpiece is held in the fixture jaws which are opened and closed through an automatic screw mechanism. Station 2 and Station 6 are CNC units. Station 3 and Station 5 each have two programmable axes, a transversal and a radial. Station 4 has three programmable axes, transversal, radial, and vertical. Stations also have a revolver head with up to six tools, and when combined with the indexable fixture feature, allow several compicated machining operations to be performed on one station providing a greater degree of flexibility. All machine movements are controlled by computer, with a total of 24 CNC axes on the machine. All spindles accept standard tool holders. The machine is available in configurations of six, eight, 10, 12, and 15 stations.
