Crankless Presses

Lamba two-point crankless presses are ideally suited for deep drawing, heavy blanking, forming, bending and other operations requiring long stroke length. In these presses, the eccentrics are an integral part of the main gears which rotate on stationary pins rigidly supported in the crown. The pins, therefore, serve merely as a pivot. They are only in shear at the main bearings, and unlike conventional crank pressdesign. they carry no torsional load and relatively little bending load. This type of construction offers distinct advantages over other types of drives in large, heavy tonnage and long stroke work. The front-to-back direction of the pivot pins eliminates the wind up and bending loads to which long, unsupported shafts are subjected. These presses are more compact, permitting enclosure of all the gears within a streamlined crown. There are no overhanging gears, guards and brackets. The eccentrics rotate in opposite directions cancelling out the horizontal forces which, in crank type presses, must be resisted by the gibbing alone. Flywheel and bearings can be removed quickly and easily without disturbing the drive shaft. Gears run in totally enclosed crown and are automatically lubricated. All gears are closely supported on both sides. There are no overhanging mountings to cause deflections.
