Tube Bending Machine

Amis Engineers (“amis”), for first time in India, has developed a Tube Bending Machine for bending tubes in different radii for condensers and similar applications. This machine is hydraulically operated. Speeds for bending and clamping are fully adjustable depending on tube OD, bending radius and material of tube. All smaller bending radii are bent on individual dies designed for each tube dia after considering spring back, etc. The bigger radii are done on inverted cones. The tube is lifted along the conical surface of cone depending on radius to be bent. Accordingly the table and the clamping dies are raised along the cone for the required bending radius. The machine has a Siemen’s PLC with Touch screen for all the settings like bending angle and clamping, etc. An encoder has been provided for setting the angle of bending the tubes, the number of cones is provided depending on the max radius to be bent. Every cone has a range of bending radii because of fixed cone angle and height of cone. These cones are precision machined and are hard-chrome plated on conical surface where the tube comes in contact with the cone. Individual dies are also required for each tube OD depending the required bending radius. Different variants of the machine are available depending on the actual customer need. All the necessary interlocks for operator and machine safety are provided.

In addition to the bending machine the company has also developed complete supporting equipment required for the same: gauging table for measuring of radius after bending operation; ends cutting machine with two abrasive cut off wheels/circular saws moving on linear guides thru ball screws to cut the two free ends of the bent U-tube equally; and a hydro testing machine for pressure testing the final U-bent tube.
