Cnc Knee Mill Features Fast Tool Changes

The KMC-717 BT/CV features quick tool changing capabilities. The faster manuak tool changing is made possible by a pneumatically powered, quick-change collect in the spindle assembly which accepts both BT or CV 40-taper toolholders with a standard retemtion knob. This device allows a tool to be snapped in and out instantly with the quill at any position in the Z-axis. This is said to be many times faster than changing tools on a standard spindle, where the operator must wait for the quill to move to the home position before unscrewing the drawbar. With a machine weight of 6,400 lbs, the base and frame are made of Meehanite iron castings for vibration damping and thermal stability. The saddle is supported on both dovetail and square box ways, with precision ground, hardened, and coated bearing surfaces. The machine has a 58" by 11" table, with X, Y, Z travels of 32" by 17" by 7" respectively. Knee travel is 16". Maximum work load is 1,500 lbs. The sliding ram of the machine has a travel of 22-3/16", which further increases work capacity.
