VMCs Feature New Anti-Vibration System

Bostomatic vertical machining centres are said to have exceptional accuracy and high speed contouring performance. The VMCs are available in a range of sizes, from travels of 18"by 12"by 16"to 50"by 22"by 22". Spindles are available in single to quadruple configurations, with speeds of 10,000 RPM to 60,000 RPM, and from 5 HP to 20 HP. The machines are used to machine a wide variety of parts, including forging dies, bottle moulds, indexing arms, roll dies, medical devices, EDM electrodes, turbo machinery components, automotive heads and aerospace parts. The company will demonstrate its new anti-vibration system which enables higher speed machining with excellent surface finishes. The company's new thermal growth compensation system, combining specialized software and electromechanical hardware, reduces the ill effects of thermal growth in machining spindles by over 75 per cent compared to conventional spindle refrigeration systems, says the builder. The BDC3200 CNC will be outfitted with several improvements, including large hard drives (more than 500 MB), increased RAM (16 MB), and a 15 per cent increase in block processing speed. Contour optimization software, Ethernet communications and a Fanuc compatible user interface for the BDC3200 will also be demonstrated.
