Extended Table Travel Vertical Machining Centre

Republic-Lagun CNC Corp has introduced an extended table-travel version of its highly regarded Lagunmatic series of vertical machining centres. The machine, designated the VMC3516-X, is based on the company"s premier VMC3516 Challenger which provides X-, Y-, Z-axis travel of 24" x 16" x 20", respectively. The VMC-3516-X model provides an additional half-foot of X-axis travel, extending that dimension to 30" while maintaining the same machine footprint as the standard model. Work table dimensions are 35" x 16".The larger work envelope of the VMC-3516-X offers increased versatility and flexibility for job shop needing to machine larger parts, or who might benefit from fixturing multiple parts on the same table setup. The X-model machine is a fully enclosed unit that at 11,000 lbs is one of the heaviest machines in its class. The base, column, saddle and table are of heavily-ribbed Meehanite castings for superior vibration-damping and thermal stability. The VMC-3516- built in the USA, and is designed specifically for applications that require sustained, high-accuracy cutting of materials up to the heaviest steel, in high-production operating environments. To assure performance and durability under these conditions, the worktable is supported on precision ground and hardened box-ways with Turcite ?-coated bearing surfaces. This assures smooth, accurate movement under heavy loading. Table-load capacity for die machine is 2,000 lbs. UlLra-precision, pre-tensioned ballscrews are used, which are fully supported and protected at both ends Of the table. Rapid table-traverse is up to 800 IPM. Peak axis thrust is rated at 7,022 lbs. The VMC-3516-X employs a 15-HP (peak) spindle motor that drives a geared, low/high range headstock, which delivers up to 1,000 RPM in low-range and up to 5,000 RPM in high. Peak spindle torque is 315 ft/lbs from 0 to 250-RPM-the point where maximum rated horsepower is developed. An optional high-RPM headstock is also available, which is poly V-belt driven to deliver up to 10,000-RPM cutting performance. The 18-tool automatic tool changer is random, bidirectional, for faster overall machining performance. Standard CNC control on the VMC-3516-X is the Lagunmatic 1000-GX, a fully loaded, software, enhanced, Dynapath-based unit. The control provides the user with advanced graphics, concurrent programming capabilities, PLC, DNC terminal mode, and advanced calc-assist.
