Workholding Unusual Shapes

Precision grid plates manufactured by Walco Tool and Engineering are designed to aid in set up and workholding of unusual shapes while dereasing the dead zone under the spindle. Custom designed to fit vertical machining centres, these plates allow for multiple setup of different parts. Constructed from stress relieved cast iron, free machining steel, or aluminium tooling plate, these grid plates are manufactured on late model vertical machining centres and surface ground, holding flatness and parallelism of 0.0005/24". Precision holes are bored on location with non-accumulative tolerances of ?0.0004. Grid plates, are checked in an environmentally controlled inspection lab to assure accuracy. Available options are threaded inserts, hardened precision bushings, 12 mm or 16 mm threads, 50 mm or 2" spacing, T-slots, key-ways, and alphanumeric engraving. The use of replaceable inserts and bushings assures high wear resistance and in the event of damage, can be replaced. Walco plates can be designed to accommodate user needs.
