Wire Edm Features Advanced Setup And Wire Handling Systems

Agiecut Evolution features simplified setup and workpiece measuring, true multi-tasking CNC control, fully enclosed architecture and automatic drop tank, simplified wire handling for 30 degree tapering in workpieces up to 4 " (100 mm) high, and longer travels-all in a machine with a footprint 50 per cent smaller than conventional wire EDM units. One new feature, Agiesetup 3D, works on the same principle as a co-ordinate measuring machine. A measuring probe built into the upper wire guide arm determines the plane of the clamped workpiece and sets the cutting wire perpendicular to the workpiece surface in accordance with the measured data. The wire is then used to measure the exact position of the workpieces clamped anywhere in the machining zone. Any offset in the X/Y direction is automatically picked up by the control system and corrected in accordance with the geometry program. This feature in combination with the Agiejet automatic wire threading system, and machining submerged in the dielectric fluid makes it possible to utilize the entire travel range with multiple workpieces. The manmachine interface and control system, Agievision, utilizes two 32-bit microprocessors in a multi-tasking operating environment. One processor supports the CNC while the other supports the operator interface. Individual software modules run concurrently and are independent of one another. A 528 MB hard drive and a 1.44 MB floppy drive for the transfer of machining, technology, and geometry data, make plenty of memory available. The system also includes a CD-ROM drive. A 10.4" dual-scan colour LCD monitor allows 3D simulation of the workpiece.
