Fluteless Machine Taps

Fluteless or former taps as they are sometimes called, operate by a process of cold forming rather than by chip removal. Manufactured by Guhring India Private Limited, Bangalore, these fluteless taps can machine perfectly any material having ductility coefficient of 10 per cent or less. Following are the advantages of this kind of taps: no chips, therefore chip problems do not occur since threads are produced by a cold forming process which is of particular advantage in blind holes; no cross-threading; no thread pitch errors (these often occur during the reversal of conventional taps); better surface finish of thread; and increased tensile strength of thread through uninterrupted grain pattern or cold hardening.
