CNC Sliding Head Automatic Lathes

Gildemeister Italiana SpA of Italy offers three specially developed automatic lathes—GLD 16, GLD 20 and GLD 25L—designed for classic workshop applications, including the turning of both simple and complex parts, particularly when they are very long, in production runs of medium batch sizes. Based on a modular system, the lathes can be adapted individually to suit specific production requirements. The main difference between the three machines, indicated by the numeral, is their respective maximum bar capacity—16, 20 and 25 mm, the last only for free machining materials. Each of the three lathes is available in 3 different configurations with 3, 4 and 5 machining axes, with 6 axes possible as further option. The machines have rigid construction with a fixed spindle and a barrel that can be moved along the longitudinal axis. Tool holding plates are provided with a quick changing facility that makes retooling much faster. Digital drives provide the necessary dynamics on all models. Recirculating ball bearing systems are used for movements in all axes. All slides have linear guideways. Each lathe is equipped with a Y axis as a standard.feature which makes a C axis unnecessary and offers an extensive range of machining alternatives with rotating tools. Up to 18 different tools can be used at the same time. Emulsion is used for cooling instead of oil. The machines run particularly quietly making the workplace environment pleasant.
