HSS In-Roll Taps

HSS in-roll taps come with many advantages. These include: chipless tapping ? threads are formed by metal displacement method without any cutting action, thus no extra work for removal of stray chips, eliminating difficult cleaning operations and improves product reliability; and absolute accuracy of threads (better thread gauging) ? since the tap re-arranges metal instead of removing it, the flank of the finished threads are burnished and provides very smooth thread gauging. In-roll taps manufactured by Kalra Tools have proved highly successful in tapping fine pitches. Threads formed by these taps satisfy all gauges such as core pin gauge, thread plug gauge, etc. These are ideal for blind holes, as only single tapping is required to obtain threads up to maximum depth. There is no clogging or jamming in the blind holes. Especially in stampings and steel sheets with thin thread sections, the grain flow of form threads result in greater strength. The added strength of the work hardening material improves the integrity of the finished part. There are no cutting edges, which get dull (blunt) with use. The in-roll taps have lobes, which have much more wear surface.
