Gun Drill Unit

Somex Mulhouse has developed the gun drill unit ECPP4 for drilling with spindle flute gun drill tools. The gun drill system is not only suited for drilling of deep holes but also used in applications where high quality holes are to be machined at low cost. Second operations, such as sinking, reaming, honing and others can be dispensed with. The use of gun drill technology allows to achieve close hole diameter tolerances, good alignment and straightness of the hole in just one operation. The coolant is supplied under pressure through the hollow tool shank to the carbide tool edge. Chips and the coolant are continuously flushed out of the hole through a V-flute located on the tool outside. Drilling is performed into the solid.
