Water Jet Cutting Systems

These are manufactured at a modern, well equipped with state-of-the-art facility to deliver top class quality. There is a popular notion that these are competing technologies. The truth, however, is that they are not. Each technology has its own strengths and weaknesses. They will indeed overlap in certain areas of use. The final selection depends upon the material to be cut, thickness of the sheet, which is to be cut, the quality of cut, the speed of the cut and finally the investment that can be made to acquire the correct technology. CNC 2½ axis cutting is the process of cutting plain sheet with two axis running in interpolation. The third or the Z-axis is not interpolated but works only for height control. Water Jet Cutting: as the name suggests water jet is used for cutting of not only metals but also non-metals like granite, marble, bakelite, ceramic, cloth and practically anything which does not get damaged by getting wet. Recent advances have introduced abrasive in the water stream further increasing the speed of cut. This process scores over both laser and plasma as there is simply no heat input in the cutting process. However, for the same power input, the cutting speed is very slow. But then, one can cut granite, marble, Bakelite, etc., only with water jet and not with laser or plasma. Water jet can cut far thicker substrates as compared to laser or plasma.
