Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Japan, has recently introduced Model EA8 NC EDM. This machine has many features. The Fuzzy Pro II control system ensures optimum power supply performance in high speed machining of complicated shapes. In this system, 3 sensors are provided, viz, processing area sensor, reaction force sensor and MF adaptor (machining power sensor). This provides enhanced machining performance with "optimum jump" and " expert rib" settings. It is the first system in the world designed to control sludge accumulation. New machining centre circuit a SC helps in low electrode wear. Newly developed ESPER multi-stepped automatic machining technology and PS circuit super surface machining are provided as standard. The machine has a very rigid structure and is very compact in size. Variety of orbital functions including C-axis linked orbital rotation and orbit compensation functions are provided as standard. The machine construction is of fixed table design and all the movements are given to the spindle. The spindle is direct drive without gear or belt. CNC control system is 64 bit CPU which allows highly accurate and fast machining. The machining range of Model EA-8 is 300 mm x 250 mm x 250 mm. Automatic lubrication device is provided as standard. Built-in C-axis head, ATC, SP circuit for carbide machining are provided as optional items. The metal removal rate of the machine is high and very good surface finish can be achieved. The machine is economically priced.
