Reverse Osmosis Systems

SAF Engineers offers Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems for water purification. This is a membrane separation process in which feed water stream travels along with the membrane surface, under pressure, and gets diverted into two different streams as: 1) Purified water, which permeates through membrane (semi-permeable) and collects into central core-tube; and 2) Concentrated water, consists of all contaminations fed with raw water, rejected to drain at another end of membrane. Reverse osmosis systems remove all possible contaminations as suspended, dissolved and biological, etc. However it is made for removal of dissolved chemical contaminations, hence for consistent performance it is recommended to remove other kinds of contaminations during pre-treatment only. Advantages of RO Vs conventional systems: in view of today’s scenario when the quality of available water is getting deteriorated day by day due to continuous pollution and exploitation of sources, RO is the only economic solution left (as soon as raw water TDS ? 300 ppm) for removal of chemical contamination as high salinity, pesticides/herbicides, heavy metals, etc. It is non-chemical and continuous process and carries an edge over conventional technologies of resin based (ion exchange) process and thermal desalination due to simple operation and less operating cost. Hence it could be considered as a technology for today and future also. Applications: processed drinking water, bottled drinking water, boiler and cooling towers, industrial heating-cooling circuit, haemodialysis and sterilised water, ultra-pure water, process water, conventional ET plant, oil separator and DAF, and membrane based systems.
