B R Kumar & Sons offers Gouging Torches, ARC Series. Gouging/metal removal by gouging process is essentially a progressive melting of metal by using Gouging Arc®. Gouging holders with copper coated carbon electrodes and simultaneously blowing away the melted metal by high velocity jets of compressed air directed at the point of the arc coming out of the gouging arc gouging holder. The Brass (B) and Copper (C) models of ARC Series gouging torches are rugged and reliable, made of forged body, extremely light and versatile for air carbon arc metal removal process, which melts metal with an electric arc, then blows it away with a jet of ordinary shop compressed air. The B and C models of ARC Series gouging torches are extremely efficient in metal removal for fabrication jobs in steel fabrication plants, shipyards, railroads, penstock fabricators and pressure vessel manufactures. They speed up defect repair, edge preparation, back gouging of the welding joints, weld removal and many other metal removal jobs. They are ideal for almost all metals. This process is extensively used in foundries. It is used to remove defects from casting and it has found application as a method for washing off excess metal such as pads remaining when gates and risers are cut from casting. This process has replaced grinding, chipping, and oxy-acetylene gouging in some instances. This process can eliminate expensive equipment like plate edge planers, oxy-acetylene planers used for edge preparation in large fabrication shops.
