Corona Treater

Eltech Engineers, one of the leading manufacturers of complete treating systems, static charge eliminators, static chargers and ozone generators, was established in 1992. The company manufactures corona treaters in range of 1 kW for web width 3000 mm. Single phase treaters are for low speed and narrow web width and 3-phase treaters are for high speed and wide web width. Generally, plastics have chemically inert and nonporous surfaces with low surface tensions causing them to be non-receptive to bonding with substrates, printing inks, coating, and adhesives. Corona treatment is the method most widely used to ensure adhesion on the printing press, coater or laminator. Surface treatment is required for plastic films/fabrics whose normal surface tension is not sufficiently high to permit good wetting by flexo graphic inks. Corona treatment increases the surface tension of the fabrics receptive to ink by including molecular changes in the surface of the films. The equipment consists of mainly transformer, electrodes, silicon rollers and free rollers, which are enclosed in a properly made casing corona and is generated by applying a high frequency, high voltage signal to an electrode separated from an earthed by an air gap. The fabric is passed from free roller through the air gap between multi-segmented electrode and the silicon roller, which generates continuous shower of ionised air called as Corona.
