Biomass Gasifiers for Power & Thermal Applications

Arrya Hi-Tech Energy (AHE) is a turnkey supplier of Biomass Gasifier based power plants as well as gasifiers for thermal applications. The company owns the first and single largest biomass gasifier based grid-fed power plant in the country from 2002. This with the hands-on experience gained over the years, the group has entered the renewable energy field in a big way from 2006 in the name of AHE and executed more than 15 large scale projects with in the span of 3 years. With facilities and systems implemented with ISO 9001: 2008 certification, further expansion plan is under progress for overseas projects. The company has been licensed by Advanced Bio-residues Energy Technologies Society (ABETS), of the Combustion Gasification and Propulsion Lab (CGPL), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. ABETS has pioneered the development of biomass gasification in the country has obtained a number of patents in over two decades of research. The technology transfer agreement provides for continuous upgrading to include all future developments made in the technology by ABETS. The most number of successful gasifier plants are operated with this technology in India. As always with any solution, the search for alternate sources of renewable and eco friendly energy has led mankind to nature once again. Gasification is the process of partial pyrolysis of biomass under controlled conditions leading to generation of "producer gas". Producer gas is essentially composed of: carbon monoxide (CO) = 20 + 1%; hydrogen (H2) = 20 + 1%; methane (CH4) = 3+1%; carbon dioxide (CO2) = 12+1% and the rest is nitrogen. The flammable and useful components in this gas are CO, H2, CH4. This gas has a calorific value of 1100 kcal/m3. This is after being put through a serious of cleaning processes, is used to run an engine for power generation, or be used in replacing costly and polluting fossil fuels in furnaces, kilns, etc., for thermal applications. Biomass, for the purpose of gasification, refers to natural resources such as prosopis juliflora, casuarinas or any other type of woody biomass. Agricultural waste such as coconut shell, coconut fronds, etc., can be used in their normal form. Other powdery waste such as groundnut shell, saw dust, etc., can also be used in briquette form.
