Metallurgical Testing Laboratory

Microlab was established in the year 2000 as a material testing facility for their bronze/brass foundry, M/s Balaji Alloys, which through the years have matured into a NABL accredited full fledged Metallurgical Testing Laboratory. It is promoted by a dedicated professional, an IISc alumni, with a PG degree in metallurgy, who has nurtured a dedicated young team of post graduates and graduates in metallurgy and material science, who are the unseen force behind the success story of this laboratory. Scope of testing: Metallurgy – metalographic analysis; ferrite measurement; weld qualification; failure analysis of parts and assemblies; total solution to customer process problems; reverse engineering; process validation. Corrosion – corrosion testing as per ASTM/GOST/NACE; corrosion testing as per customer standards; analysis of corrosion problems metal finishing; HIC – NACE TM 0284; SSCC – NACE TM 0177 (24°C); SSCC – NACE TM 0177 (90°C). Chemistry: OES; speciality. Mechanical testing – tensile test: RT and elevated temperature tensile test (up to 1000°C); 0.2 % proof stress; strain controlled tensile testing; fasteners testing; WPQ/PQR testing; hardness measurement. On site testing – PMI (positive material identification); ferrite content measurement using feritscope; portable hardness testing; surface roughness measurement; coating thickness measurement; in-situ metallography. Customer care and customer service: software based test processing and report generation; same day to under 48 hr report delivery; well laid out reports and free advice on reports; free technical advice to customers on their process issues; tests carried out at customer's site at short notice; in house sample preparation for best sample quality and repeatability; special attention to corporate clients and student projects; and 24x7 service.
