Hamilton Sundstrand Applied Instrument Technologies manufactures automated sampling devices with new operating software for simplifying routine laboratory analysis of light and heavy hydrocarbon samples. The automation and quality control features of these devices, integrated with the laboratory Analect Diamond 20 Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Fourier Transform Near Infrared (FTNIR) instruments, allow more refinery samples, including those of higher viscosity, to be run by technicians rather than chemists. The simpler, more automated analysis procedures provided by the Analect RefinIR with QC 80 software allow refinery labs to increase productivity and reduce operating costs. The Analect RefinIR integrated system delivers automated data acquisition of multiple liquid samples of light hydrocarbons at ambient temperatures. Once loaded with up to 27 40-ml vials, the system automatically transfers each sample to a flow-through transmission cell in the Analect Diamond 20 FTIR for spectral data acquisition. The process includes automatic wash and validation. The Analect RefinIR 100t is a semi-automatic sampling oven for data acquisition of up to twelve 40-ml liquid samples at temperatures up to 100 degree C. It can accommodate heavy hydrocarbons such as crude oil, heavy napthas, cat feed, lube oil and additives. Oven controllers and sensors enable sampling of flammable supplies.
