Twin-Cylinder Water-Cooled Diesel Engine

Gujarat Forgings Ltd offers Fieldmarshal brand GD16, a twin-cylinder 4-stroke CI diesel engine. With bore and stroke of 95 x 110 mm (cubic capacity: 1,560 cc), this vertical water-cooled engine gives 16 HP (I11.8 kW) at 1,500 RPM as per IS:10001. This direct injection, simple open combustion engine, with compression ratio of 16:5:1 has a good fuel efficiency (250 g/kWh) and a minimum of lubricating oil consumption. Crankcase, cylinder block, and cylinder head are of high grade castings. Individual blocks provide ample water passages around a wet type centrifugally cast cylinder liners which are readily removable for servicing. Individual cylinder heads of box section carry overhead valves, valve operating gear and injector. Efficient cooling ensures cool valves and injector. Crankshaft is of high quality forging with drilled holes to carry pressurised lubricating oil to large end and main bearings. Small end bush is of gunmetal. Piston made of low expansion silicon aluminium alloy carries three compression and two oil control rings. Separate fuel pumps and injectors with multi-hole nozzle enable easy servicing. A sensitive centrifugal type mechanical governor maintains engine speed as per requirements. Lubrication is entirely automatic. This is a hand-start engine and its standard rotation is clockwise from flywheel end. It is meant for all stationary uses and provides power take-off from either side and also at half speed. Because of these features, this engine is best suited for agriculture, industrial and marine applications.
