Tailor Welded Blanks System

Rasandik Engineering Industries, a pioneer in many of its areas of operations, offers Tailor Welded Blanks (TWB) system in India. TWBs help to reduce manufacturing costs and decrease vehicle weight, and are manufactured by welding together two or more sheets of metal of different thicknesses, material grades, and/or coatings to produce a single blank, which is subsequently formed/stamped. The TWB system by Rasandik comprises state-of-the-art ND-Yag laser and semi automatic welding system. Both make a cutting edge in technology over the conventionally used CO2 system. TWB is thus a system that has advanced and patented features of manufacturing and quality assurance. The company has an installed capacity of 1 million metres of laser welding, and is already catering to clients like Maruti Suzuki and others. Typical TWB applications include inner door panels. With the application of TWBs going up in the auto industry, more body components are being subjected to TWB manufacture, which often use a combination of cold rolled and high tensile steel, and high tensile and bake hardened steels. Use of such combinations, enabled by the TWB system, results in effectively reducing the steel thickness and weight of components, in addition to reducing the number of components being used in a vehicle. This makes the vehicle lighter and fuel efficient, without compromising safety.
