Autoliv India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Autoliv, Inc., which is based out of Sweden and USA. The company specialises in the manufacture of automotive safety systems. The product range comprises airbags and seat belts. In India, the company has invested in a modern manufacturing infrastructure comprising three facilities, the latest being Bangalore. The Bangalore plant also includes a safety centre, the ninth technical centre and one of the three centres that specialise in small car safety. Catering to OEMs in India for over 16 years, Autoliv India, caters to the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Tata Motors, Toyota, Hyundai, Fiat, Ford, GM and Nissan. The seat belts the company offers help reduce the risk of injury in many types of crashes. They help to properly position occupants to maximize the airbag's benefits and unlike airbags, also protect occupants in multiple-collision crashes when worn. A seat belt is designed to stretch at a controlled rate to absorb crash energy and reduce the severity of the occupant's deceleration.
