Electric Power Steering System

JTEKT Sona Automotive India is a joint venture between Sona Koyo Steering Systems and JTEKT Corporation, Japan. The company manufactures column mounted Electric Power Steering Systems (C-EPS) for passenger vehicles. The C-EPS is made at a well-equipped manufacturing infrastructure with high emphasis on quality. The C-EPS has a power assist unit, torque sensor and controller, all connected to the steering column. This helps in rotating a steering gear with an applied force that reduces the torque required from the driver, to steer. The system powers the C-EPS motor only when necessary, which results in reduced fuel consumption compared to the same vehicle with an HPS (Hydraulic Power Steering) system.
