Water Softener
Water Softener is an equipment that removes the Hardness (i.e. Ca and Mg ions) of the influent water to render the effluent water Soft. Having come a long way from the days of Lime - Soda Softening and Zeolite based Softening process, today's Softener is a pressure vessel filled with Strongly Acidic Cation Resin in Sodium form. The Ca/Mg ions are exchanged for (replaced by) Na ions held on the resin matrix. When all exchangeable Na ions are replaced, the resin is exhausted and is regenerated by a 12-13% solution of Brine (Nacl).
