A dust collector is a system used to enhance the quality of air released from industrial and commercial processes by collecting dust and other impurities from air or gas. One important reason for the need of a dust collection system is to avoid the health risk. Inhaling fine wood dust (as also dust and pollutants generated by rubber, carbon foundry, break-lining and pigment industries) can develop into respiratory illnesses as well as aggravate existing respiratory conditions. There are various types of wood dust that can also cause irritation to uncovered skin surface. Fine wood dust can stay suspended for hours. The dust is sucked through a suitable ducting system. This dusty air is passed through a series of filter bags where most of the dust is accumulated on the surface of filter bags. The relatively clean air is then passed into atmosphere through a chimney mounted on centrifugal blower exhaust. The bags in the dust collector are cleaned on-line using reverse jet compressed air pulsing. Since air pressure in the pulsing mechanism is high as such most of the dust is dislodged from the filter bags and falls into hopper where it is collected in the dust bin.
