Francis Klein & Co offers new generation stepper motor and stand- alone control module from Slo-Syn, a division of Warner Electric SA of Switzerland. Slo-Syn represents the KML series of stepper motors. The holding torque is between 1.2 and 8.2 Nm, compared with 0.53 to 3.9 Nm for the old MO 60 and MO 90 standard motors. 4 lengths are available for size 23, and 3 for size 34. They can be used in full step, half step and micro stepping operation. Their typical step accuracy is 12 %, and their maximum speed is 6,000 min-1. These motors can withstand twice the rated current without demagnetisation, thus allowing an instant torque peak equal to 200% of the rated torque. In most of the cases, a smaller motor can be used to provide the same output, which allows cost reduction of up to 25 %. The SS 2000 D61 stand-alone module is for precise positioning. This module has an integral 6A/180 V drive capable of operating with ratings of 12,800 steps per revolution. It includes 1 axis control card fitted with two RS- 232 or RS-485 serial ports, and controls 8 inputs and 4 outputs with opto coupling. It is programmed using a language developed from basic. Integrators or designers of special machines are among the clients using this product. It is also available in a brushless version. The TDC series integrates a 4-quadrant amplifier with a continuous current capability of 4 or 8 A input in voltages from 90 to 240 V AC.
