Speed feedback signals from the motor's tachogenerator (the voltage generated by the tachogenerator) are used to detect the speed of the motor shaft. The detected speed is compared against the speed command set by the speed potentiometer to control the voltage supplied to the motor. By changing the voltage applied to the motor, the output torque is changed to an optimal level at which balance with the load is achieved. The speed of geared motor is calculated by dividing the motor's synchronous speed (50 Hz – 1500 RPM) by the gear ratio. The actual speed is 2-20% less than the displayed value, depending on the size of the load. This way, speed fluctuation at each set speed can be kept to a minimum even when the load torque varies.
