Full-Torque Reduced-Current Motor Starters

Torquedrive motor starters (FTRC starters) from Energy Systems and Controls are suitable for starting fully loaded motors which can otherwise be started only with DOL starters resulting in heavy inrush currents. Induction motors draw high starting currents which cause voltage drops. When this happens, the current goes up further. This results in the motors not starting at all. This problem can be noticed when starting a motor on generators. Full-torque soft start capability results in the reduction of inrush current but without reduction in the starting torque. This gives reduction in maximum demand and energy consumption, especially if the motor is frequently started. With a torquedrive starter, the motor starts and runs as indicated by the load, with no interference such as lengthened starting cycles. Other advantages include gradual acceleration of motor, reduction in peak motor current during starting, reduction in maximum demand, reduced motor temperature and increased motor life. The equipment is practically maintenance-free.
