Drum Motors

BDL offers Drum Motor. It is an advanced and highly efficient conveyor drive system where the motor, transmission and bearings are totally enclosed within the drum motor shell. Drum motor is a motorised pulley where the body rotates around a stationary shaft. This motor is an integral part of the conveyor and is therefore much more compact. Features: it is simple, small, powerful & almost no maintenance or downtime, which means lower costs and higher productivity. The rotating outer "drum" becomes the drive pulley, which powers the conveyor belt. Unlike conventional drive systems, this motor has no chains or V-belts to tighten or replace, no sprockets to align, clean or lubricate, no bearings to grease, and does not require chain guards. All gearing is made of high alloy steel, not plastic. The drum motor is lubricated for life and needs no oil change. Furthermore, all moving parts are enclosed in the drum shell, which eliminates hazardous moving parts and pinch points, along with the potential for electric shock from water in conventional motors. The drive is also much cleaner because there is no external grease or oil from chains, bearings or couplings.
