Electric Indicator Company's slotless, brushless DC motors and rotor/stator sets develop smooth, cogless, high torque at low speeds without gearing. Custom designs can be provided with typical base speeds of 15 to 100 RPM and torque ratings of 20 ft-lbs overall. Speed adjustment ratios of over 100:1 can be achieved through separate encoder/resolver interfaced driver controllers providing completely smooth, cogless, jitterfree rotation throughout the speed range. Designs using 72 poles have enabled direct-drive low speeds to be obtained as low as 0.003 RPM, or less than 1/4 revolution per hour, without gearing.
