Drilling Machine, High Speed Precision

Micro Engineering Works has developed a versatile, high speed (20,000 RPM), bench type precision drilling machine, suitable for drilling holes up to 3 mm diameter. Its hardened and ground spindle is driven by a specially designed belt pulley arrangement, powered with a single phase mains operated motor to attain high speed for PCB drilling and other micro-drilling operations. Total quill travel of 30 mm, combined with the 150 mm vertical adjustment of drilling head along its hardened and ground column provide versatility to drilling in objects of various heights. Precision high speed imported spindle bearings are housed in accurately lapped bores of its hardened and ground quill, which form the basis of guarantee for extremely accurate machine opera- tions. Conveniently placed controls, compact structure and preci- sion geometry are the other features. The machine is usual with either flexible collet chuck or a 3-jaw self tightening chuck. Uses are in drilling small and very small holes in high precision components, tool manufacture, prototype and research work, labo- ratory work, batch manufacture in the electronic, jewellery and clock making and related industries. The machine is presently available in two models, 101 PDM-M (for mechanical work) and 201 PDM-P for (PCB work).
