Controlled Boring System

The British company Innovative Tooling Solutions (ITS) designs and manufactures a range of controlled boring tools in conjunction with bespoke tooling solutions. The ITS? Controlled Boring System (CBS) offers production engineers greater flexibility and control over conventional boring tools/methods whilst also increasing productivity and accuracy. This system involves a feature for changing diameter of boring whilst the machining operation is actually taking place under the CNC control of the horizontal boring machine. The radial position of cutters can be changed during the cutting operation to generate a series of features during a single continuous operation. It is therefore possible to programme CBS equipped machines to automatically machine complex geometries, such as tapers, radii, chamfers, profiles and thread forms in single tool set-up. The product range has a machining envelope from 0 to more than 2000 mm. Applications: Valve manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, landing gear, automotive and process machinery industries.
