Airless Shot Blasting Machine, Y-Track

Surface International has designed and produced a high efficiency, high output “Y” conveyor type Shot Blasting Machine. The machine is reportedly giving 2.5 to 3 times the output achieved by locally fabricated machines. The fully manganese steel lining gives an exceptionally long life to the blast cabinet for reduced wear and tear. The abrasive cycling system efficiently transfers the spent abrasive back into the storage hopper. Before transfer to the storage hopper, the abrasives are cleaned by the rotary screen and air-wash system provided in the separator of the machine, which efficiently segregate usable abrasives from unusable ones. The dust collector provided with the machine involves latest technology, i.e., reverse pulsejet system, which constantly cleans the dust bag by action of an air-jet. Sound reducers are provided fitted just before the blast wheel, to reduce the sound of the machine and make it more user-friendly. The sound reducer also has facility to regulate the flow of abrasive media as per requirement of the machine and capacity of the motor attached to the blast wheel. All controls are provided on the cubical panel. The machine is powered by two 12½” blast wheel assemblies powered by 7.5 HP motor, propelling 7 tonnes of shots/hr strategically mounted to completely cover the object having envelope size Ø 1,000 x 1200 mm long. A spinner assembly, alternately rotating clockwise and anti clockwise to achieve better finish, is provided on the top of the blast cabinet, which rotates the hanger by the action of chain and sprocket. The hanger is held in position in the blast cabinet by locking action of a pneumatic cylinder which is mounted on the roof of the cabinet and locks the hanger in position when the hanger is stationed in the blast cabinet and main door is closed. The advantage of “Y” track conveyor is that two hangers can be operated on the machine. The operation of the machine is governed by a programmable logic control (PLC), and the operation/status of the machine can be seen on the human machine interface (HMI).
