The surface finishing of critical metal components used in hip, knee, elbow and shoulder joint replacement/ corrective surgery is a specialised task. A wide variety of surface finishes can be produced depending upon the component's nature, its end use and surgeon's own speciflcations to enhance cement fixation and for cosmetic purposes. The equipment employed is either suction type or pressure type abrasive blasting cabinets using glass beads or aluminium oxide as abrasive media. These cabinets are incorporated with media recycling system. The feature of dust extraction system keeps the environment clean and within permissible limit of dust emission.
